Social network analysis is an academic field which emerged from social psychology, sociology, statistics, and graph theory. It includes the process of representing social structures such as social media networks with nodes and edges and provides powerful graph metrics for investigating structures. For example, we will compute various kinds of centralities which are used to identify important nodes in the network.
